The William Jewell women's basketball team opened 2020 with a 89-62 loss at the hands of Truman State on Thursday evening. The loss drops the Cardinals to 5-5 on the season and 1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

How it Happened

• Truman came out firing in the opening quarter, scoring 26 points behind six three pointers. 
• The Bulldogs again put up 26 points to Jewell's 11 to expand the lead to 25 at the half, 52-27. 
• The Cardinals outscored Truman 20-19 in the third quarter led by five points from Kiara Bradley and trailed 71-47 after three periods.
• Jewell cut the lead down to 22 but the Bulldogs closed the game on a 9-6 run to reach the final of 89-62. 

For the Cardinals

• Ainsley Tolson led the Cardinals with a career-high 12 points while Kiara Bradley added 10. 
• Jewell was held to a 35.8% clip and just 21.7% from the three-point line.
• The Cardinals forced 21 turnovers which led to 16 points. 

For the Bulldogs

• Katey Klucking led four players in double figures with 20 points. 
• Maddie Re added 15 points and 12 boards as Truman shot 48% from the field
