The William Jewell men's basketball team shot 53% from the field, their third highest mark of the season, but fell 95-72 to Rockhurst on Monday night in Kansas City. The Cardinals fall to 6-10 on the season and 1-7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals started strong behind three point field goals from Robbie Hanson, Mason Alexander, and Eysan Wiley. After a free throw from Jackson Golightly the Hawks went on a quick 6-0 run to expand their lead to 12. After triples from Hanson and Nick Bradley cut the deficit to six, Rockhurst closed the half on a 10-5 run to hold an 11-point advantage at the intermission.
- The Hawks opened the second half with a 16-4 run to quickly expand their lead to 23. Three triples from Carter Olsen cut the deficit to 14 midway through the second period but the Cardinals could get no closer.
For the Cardinals
- Wiley led the Cardinals with 16 points to go along with eight points and three assists.
- Olsen doubled his previous career high with 12 points, on 4-of-6 from behind the arc.
- Bradley finished with a game-high six assists.
For the Hawks
- Curtis Lewis led all scorers with 24 points while Nick Volz added 20 to lead four players in double figures.
- The Hawks converted on 61% of shots from the field and won the battle in the paint 52-16.
