Cardinals Snap Skid with 75-66 Win Over Rockhurst

The William Jewell women's basketball team got back in the win column on Monday night with a 75-66 win at Rockhurst to earn the season sweep over their crosstown rival. The win also moves Jewell to 6-10 on the season and 2-6 in conference play. 

How it Happened
  • Tied at 11 in the opening quarter, Rockhurst went on a 8-3 run to hold a 20-14 lead after one quarter. 
  • The Hawks expanded their lead to 12 two minutes into the second quarter before the Cardinals mounted a rally. Lea Finn hit two three pointers over the span of 73 seconds to help pull Jewell within four. Kiara Bradley scored six of the Cardinals final eight points of the half to tie things up at 35. 
  • Jewell scored the first nine points of the second half to open up their biggest lead of the day at 44-35. Rockhurst battled back to retake the lead with under two minutes in the period but Bradley hit a triple and two free throws to put the Cardinals back on top 54-50. 
  • The Hawks tied the game at 60 with 3:33 to play but Ainsley Tolson hit one of the Cardinals three triples in the final period with just 44 seconds remaining to make it a four point game. 

For the Cardinals
  • Bradley led the Cardinals with a monster outing, posting 28 points, 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, two assists, two steals, and a block while shooting 53% from the field and going 10-for-10 from the free throw line. 
  • Macyn Wilbers tied her career high with 14 points while Tolson added 13. 
  • The Cardinals assisted on 19 of 27 field goals, led by Sydney Offield's career high of seven. 
  • The Cardinals as a team grabbed 13 offensive rebounds leading to 24 points. 

For the Hawks
  • Madeline Ronshausen led all scorers with 29 points, on 7-of-11 from three. Paige Pendley added 13 for the Hawks.
  • Rockhurst's bench outscored the Cardinals 27-13.
