The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a 65-39 decision on the road at Maryville on Thursday evening to fall to 6-11 on the season and 2-7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 

How it Happened

• The Cardinals got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 9-2 lead but Maryville responded with a 11-2 run to close the quarter. 
• The Saints continued their run as they scored the first eight points of the second quarter before jumper by Sydney Offield ended the drought. A free throw from Kiara Bradley cut the deficit to three but Maryville again closed the quarter on a run to lead 32-18 at the half. 
• The Saints grew their lead to as many as 21 in the third quarter as the Cardinals were outscored 17-10. 
• Two free throws by Ainsley Tolson cut the lead to 17 but the Cardinals could get no closer. 

For the Cardinals

• Tolson led the Cardinals with 12 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists. 
• Sydney Offield posted 11 rebounds while Macyn Wilbers grabbed a career high 10.
• As a team the Cardinals grabbed 42 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end, the most this season. 

For the Saints

• Mary Barton led Maryville with a game-high 24 points and five assists.
• Abby Monis added a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
• The Saints forced Jewell into 22 turnover resulting in 22 points.
