The William Jewell men's basketball team pulled within six late on Thursday night but Southwest Baptist was able to escape the Mabee Center with a 76-65 win to drop the Cardinals to 9-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play. 

How it Happened

• The Cardinals got off to a solid start with a five point lead and holding the Bearcats without a field goal for the first four-plus minutes. Tied at 21 later in the half, Southwest Baptist went on a 14-4 run to hold a double digit lead at the half.
• SBU grew their lead to as many as 15 in the second half but the Cardinals used a 15-6 run late in the game to pull within six after a layup by Eysan Wiley but could get no closer. 

For the Cardinals

• Nick Bradley led the Cardinals with a career-high 20 points to go along with six assists. 
• Eysan Wiley added 13 points and nine boards while Kobe McKinley finished with 11. 
• Jewell shot 40% from the field but was held to just 9-of-17 from three. 
• The Cardinal bench outscored SBU 22-16. 

For the Bearcats

• The Bearcats finished with four players in double figures, led by Quinn Nelson's 16. 
• Damian Prgomet posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds
• SBU owned the paint, outscoring the Cardinals 40-22.

The Cardinals will wrap up the home portion of the schedule on Saturday as they host Drury. Jewell will honor seniors Nick Bradley and John Ekwomadu prior to tip off.
