Lindenwood Uses Big Second Half to Get Past Cardinals

The William Jewell women's basketball team fell on the road on Saturday 85-62 at Lindenwood. The Cardinals fall to 11-15 overall and 7-11 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. 

How it Happened
  • Both teams got off to a solid start in the opening quarter. With the Cardinals leading by one, Lindenwood used a 14-3 run to go on top by 10 and eventually lead 27-18 after one period. 
  • Jewell outscored the Lions 20-14 in the second quarter to pull within three at the break. The Cardinals used a 10-3 run through the first five minutes of the second quarter to make it a two point game midway through after a basket by Claire Burch
  • The Lions scored the first eight point of the third quarter to quickly expand their lead to 11. A steal by Bailey Russell followed by a layup from Ainsley Tolson pulled the Cardinals back within six but Lindenwood expanded it back to 12 by quarter's end. 
  • The Lions outscored Jewell 22-11 in the fourth and led by as many as 26 in the period. 

For the Cardinals
  • Junior Kiara Bradley put on a clinic for the Cardinals, scoring 28 points, including 22 in the first half. 
  • Sydney Offield added five rebounds and eight assists. 
  • The Cardinal bench outscored Lindenwood 20-9. 

For the Lions
  • Kallie Bildner scored 28 while pulling down 14 rebounds to lead Lindenwood. 
  • Lindsay Medlen added 15 and eight assists. 
  • The Lions shot 53.2% from the floor and connected on 10 three pointers, including five in the fourth quarter.

Up Next 
The Cardinals return to the road for the final week of the regular season next week as they travel to Southwest Baptist on Thursday.
