JOPLIN, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team posted a dominant win over Missouri Southern in non-conference action on Friday night, winning 3-0 to move to 5-9 on the season, snapping a five game skid. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Trailing by three late in the opening set, the Cardinals shifted course, going on a 10-3 run, capped by a kill from Anna Godfredsen to rally and take the opener, 25-21. 
• Both teams traded points early in the second set before a kill and block from Lily Johnson sparked a 8-3 Jewell run to open up a 17-10 advantage. The Cardinals got two kills from Godfredsen to round out a 25-16 win. 
• Set three was all Jewell as the Cardinals and early 20-8 lead behind three kills and a block from Katy Garrison. Missouri Southern got one point back but Jewell scored five of the final six points to take the set 25-10. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell hit .280 on the night, while holding the Lions to a .105 clip, second lowest by an opponent this season. 
• The Cardinals defense shined, posting 50 digs in three sets, led by Haidan Baade's 19 and Godfredsen's 13. Jewell also outblocked the Lions, 5-3, led by Johnson's three. 
• Johnson also led the offense with 12 kills while Samantha Thompson dished out 16 assists and two aces.
