Jewell Falls at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo. – The William Jewell football team played even with Missouri S&T on Saturday on the road but a big opening half from the Miners doomed the Cardinals in a 37-16 loss to drop to 0-7 on the season, 0-3 in the GLVC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cardinals took the early lead, scoring on the opening drive as Anthony Pritzel found Livingston Benoit for 19 yards. The ensuing extra point was blocked to put Jewell up 6-0.
  • Missouri S&T scored on their first two possessions to lead 14-6 after one quarter.
  • Josh Click connected on a 41-yard field goal to open the second frame and pull Jewell with in five.
  • The Jewell defense forced S&T into miscues in the second quarter, grabbing two interceptions and forcing a punt but the Cardinals could not add more to their side of the scoreboard.
  • Missouri S&T scored twice more to close the half and lead 30-9 at the break.
  • After neither team scored in the third quarter, the Cardinals finally broke the ice in the second half with a touchdown pass from Bart Harris to Jalik Jaggwe for 25 yards to get Jewell within two scores but the Miners added an additional touchdown with less than two minutes to play to bring the score to the final of 37-16.
