LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team fell in three sets to Truman State on Saturday afternoon. All three sets were decided by five points or less as the Cardinals fall to 7-16 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals trailed 14-12 midway through set one after a 4-0 spurt from Truman but rallied late. Jewell took advantage of four service errors by Truman and an ace from Kaci Behrens to tie the set at 20. Truman responded with three kills and scored five of the final six points to take the opener, 25-21. 
• Jewell fell behind 13-6 early in set two but matched the Bulldogs point-for-point for the next 16 points. With Truman holding set point the Cardinals rolled off six straight behind kills from Chloe Robison and Katy Garrison to get within 24-20 before a kill by Morgan Smith ended the set in Truman's favor. 
• Truman again used a big early run to hold a significant advantage in set three, leading by as many as 13. Again though, the Cardinals rallied late once again, going on a 12-3 run led by two kills from Bella LaPorta and two blocks by Robison, to get within 24-20. However, just like the second set, Truman's Smith got a kill to end the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• LaPorta led the Cardinals with nine kills while Robison had six and three blocks. 
• Robison and Behrens each finished with three aces while Harper Auman had one as Jewell forced the Bulldogs into seven reception errors. 
• Hannah Cope finished with 19 assists while Jordan Collard posted 18 digs.

Jewell hits the road again next weekend as they travel to Southern Indiana and McKendree on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
