KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball got off to a hot start against Davenport University on Saturday afternoon but shot just 26% from the floor in the second half leading to a 75-67 loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals built and early seven point lead midway through the opening half after a bucket from Kobe McKinley and held the advantage for much of the first 20 minutes.
• The Panthers hit a three with just moments left on the clock to hold a 40-38 lead at the break. 
• Despite shooting less than 30% from the field in the second half, Jewell held strong, never allowing more than a six point lead until late.
• Davenport went on top 71-64 with just over 90 seconds to play forcing the Cardinals to foul putting the Panthers on the line where they were able to escape with the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jordan Jermain led the Cardinals with a game-high 24 points, including 17 in the first half, going 10-of-12 from the free throw line. 
• Mason Alexander added 19 points while McKinley chipped in 10. 
• Heri Tshiyoyo pulled down nine rebounds. 
• The Cardinals forced 22 turnovers leading the 18 points.
