HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tied at four early, the Cardinals used a 12-4 run, capped by a triple from Trey Shannon, to take an eight point lead midway through the opening half. Missouri Western countered with a 10-2 run of their own to tie things up at 18, just under three minutes later.
  • Jewell closed the half on a 6-0 run over the final four minutes to hold a 34-27 advantage at the break.
  • The Griffons opened the second half by quickly cutting their Cardinal lead to two, 45-43, but Jewell followed with a 10-1 run to open up a 12-point lead, their largest of the night.
  • The Cardinals were held scoreless over the final 2:22 of regulation as Missouri Western closed the gap, ultimately tying the game on three free throws with 16 seconds on the clock, to force overtime.
  • The scoring drought continued for Jewell in the overtime period, as Jewell went another 1:46 without a point, until Jordan Jermain's jumper got the Cards back within three, 71-69. Jermain come up big again with under a minute to play to make it a one point game but the Griffons got an offensive rebound and put back to put the game out of reach.
