LIBERTY, Mo. – Women's wrestlers will take to the mat for the first time in a William Jewell uniform on Saturday at the Falcon Invite, hosted by Friends University.
The Cardinals are led by two transfers on a roster of 13.
Savanna McCutchen earned All-America honors at Missouri Valley College as a true freshman at 136 pounds. Moving up to Division II and 143, the sophomore will look to expand upon her 15-7 campaign from a year ago. Another sophomore,
Emalie Olson, comes to Jewell after a successful freshman season at Lindenwood University where she finished fourth at the Southwest Regional at 123 pounds, qualifying her for the NCAA-II national tournament.
Headlining the list of freshmen is local standout
Lexie Cole, who won three state titles at nearby Kearney High School and is a two-time Fargo All-American. As a class, the rookies combined for 17 state appearances with 12 medals at the high school level.
Keenan Hagerty, a former four-time NCAA-II national qualifier, enters his first season at the helm of the Cardinal program. He is assisted by
Paige Baynes who won a NAIA National Championship at Wayland Baptist in 2018.
The Cardinals will host the first home event in program history on December 11, as they welcome Saint Mary, Baker, Missouri Baptist and Missouri Valley to campus for the Jewell Duals.
