LEBANON, Ill. – The William Jewell volleyball team dropped both ends of their first tri-match on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to No. 11 Quincy followed by a 3-0 defeat at the hands of McKendree.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the Cardinals trailing by one in the opening set, Quincy went on a 7-3 run to open up a 16-11 advantage, taking advantage of four Jewell errors. The Cardinals responded with two kills from Maddie Wingert and four Quincy miscues to pull within one but the Hawks took four of the final six points to win 25-22.
- Jewell went on a 4-0 run midway through set number two, with kills from Wingert, Anna Godfredsen and Jorey Luebbert to go on top 18-13. Quincy pulled within one, but a big block from Wingert and Elizabeth Quinn ended the set 25-21 in favor of the Cardinals.
- Jewell got off to a good start in set three, leading 15-13 after two kills by Quinn, but Quincy the set by outscoring the Cards 12-4 to take the 2-1 lead.
- Tied at nine in the fourth, the Hawks used a 5-1 run to jump out to a 14-10 advantage and never looked back, winning the finale, 25-17.

- Mattie Norris and Emily Rehagen finished with 16 and 15 kills respectively to lead Quincy who hit .209.
- Makayla Knoblauch finished with 39 assists and 20 digs.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals are scheduled to be back in action next Saturday as they travel to Maryville for a tri-match with the Saints and Southern Indiana.
