LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team dropped a three set match at the hands of No. 10 ranked Rockhurst on Tuesday night in the Mabee Center by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-22. The Cardinals drop to 0-4 on the season and 0-3 in league action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell fell into an early 16-7 whole in the opener. Kills from Paityn Hardison, Jorey Luebbert and Anna Godfredsen pulled the Cardinals within five but Rockhurst scored 6-2 the rest of the way. 
• Tied at eight early in the second set, Rockhurst took advantage of four service aces to go on a 10-1 run on their way to the 25-14 win. 
• Jewell made things interesting in the final, holding the Hawks to a .079 attack percentage. After falling behind by three, the Cardinals went on a 5-0 run behind back-to-back blocks by Elizabeth Quinn and Grace Baucom. Rockhurst rallied and eventually took a 21-20 lead but Maddie Wingert knotted things up again with a kill. The Hawks outscored Jewell 4-1 over the final five points to take the match. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Quinn led the Cardinals with eight kills on 14 attempts for a season-high .357 attack percentage. The senior also added a season-high six blocks. 
• Hannah Cope dished out 17 assists while Hardison had nine digs. 
• Jewell totaled nine team blocks but hit just .054 on the night. 

FOR THE HAWKS

• Rockhurst hit .200 as a team with eight service aces.
• Averi Vomastic led the Hawk offense with 10 kills while Jadyn Makovicka had 14 digs.
