ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The William Jewell volleyball team fell twice on Saturday in a tri-match with No. 1 Lewis and Lindenwood. The Cardinals pushed the top ranked Flyers in each set falling, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 before Lindenwood topped Jewell in three.
GAME ONE

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind by five in the opener, the Cardinals rallied off five straight points behind Lacey Albers serve tie the set at 15. Tied again 19, Lewis scored four straight before a Katie Paine kill ended the run but the Flyers secured the next two points to take the set.
- Tied at 13 in the second, Jewell got kills from Jorey Luebbert and Maddie Wingert to take a two-point lead. Knotted at 19 once again, the Flyers won six of the final eight points to take a two set lead.
- The Cardinals fell behind early in set three but rallied from down seven to pull within one at 23-22. Back-to-back kills by Lewis ended the set 25-22.
FOR THE CARDINALS
- Wingert led the Cardxinals with 11 kills while Hannah Cope dished out 30 assists
- Albers posted a season-high three service aces.
- Jordan Collard finished with a team-high 13 digs while Haidan Baade added 10.
FOR THE FLYERS
- Bella Ray had eight kills to lead the Flyers, assisted by Lauren Stedman 19 times.
GAME TWO
Jewell 0, Lindenwood 3
25-14, 26-24, 25-22
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With Lindenwood leading by one the Lions went on a 12-3 run on their way to winning the opener 25-14.
- Trailing by nine in the early part of the second set, Jewell rallied going on an 11-2 run to tie things up at 14. The Lions followed with a run of their own to retake the lead 24-19. The Cardinals staved off five straight set points on kills by Wingert, Grace Baucom and Lily Johnson. After a timeout, Lindenwood was able to get consecutive kills to take the set in extra points 26-24.
- Lindenwood jumped out to a 17-12 lead in the third set. The Cardinals rallied, scoring three straight on kills by Paine, Baucom and Wingert to pull within 24-22 but could not get any closer.
FOR THE CARDINALS
- Wingert and Albers led the Cardinals with seven kills while Luebbert had four blocks.
- Cope handed out 16 assists with Harper Auman added 12.
- Baade finished with 19 digs. Paine had 11 digs and a team-high aces.
FOR THE FLYERS
- Hannah Borchelt and Mackenzi Sifuentes led Lewis with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
- Allie Otten handed out a match-high 35 assists.

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend as they travel to St. Louis for a tri-match with UMSL and Illinois Springfield.
