Jewell Welcomes Southern Indiana, UIndy to Greene Stadium

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team returns home this weekend for matchups with two of the GLVC's top teams in Southern Indiana on Friday night, followed by Indianapolis on Sunday

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 25 McKendree on Sunday. The Bearcats converted an early penalty before scoring three more goals in the second half. Katie Pohl led Jewell with three shots. 
  • The Cardinals are ranked first in the GLVC and 24th nationally in saves per game with 6.25. Kaylie Kappelmann and Katie Wagenheim have shared time in goal, each starting three games. The duo has combined for 46 saves with Kappelmann atop the league with 8.50 per game. 
  • Jasmine Collier has recorded two assists this season and enters the week 11th in the GLVC with 0.33 per contest. 
  • As a team, the Cardinals are 10th the conference in scoring offense and total goals. 
     
ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA 
  • The Screaming Eagles enter the week at 4-1 overall and third in the GLVC standings, having won four straight. 
  • Keeper Maya Etienne is the reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week after posting two shutouts with 11 total saves las week. On the season, sophomore has shutouts in all four wins, allowing just two early goals. 
  • Offensively, USI is led by Katlyn Andres and Madison Cady who each boast two goals. Maggie Winter is second in the GLVC with three assists. 
  • Eric Schoenstein is in his fifth season at the helm of his alma mater's program and holds a 45-27-11 record. 

ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS
  • The Greyhounds, picked third in the GLVC preseason poll, currently sit at 3-1-1 and are coming off a scoreless draw with Quincy. 
  • UIndy is led offensively by Maria Herrero and Dana Youssef who each boast one goal and one assist. Three other players have scored this season. 
  • In goal, Sophia Saucerman and Laura Shake have shared time, each appearing in more than 200 minutes. Saucerman is currently third in the conference with 12 total saves and fourth with 4.00 per game. 
  • Holly Cox owns a career record of 47-38-10 in her six seasons at the helm and is the reigning GLVC Coach of the Year.
