LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell volleyball team returned to the Mabee Center on Tuesday as they hosted Missouri S&T. The Miners defeated Jewell 3-0 to drop the Cardinals to 1-15 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals got off to a strong start with kills by Elizabeth Quinn, Maddie Wingert and Tori Vogt to open a 4-1 lead. Missouri S&T followed with a 12-2 run to go on top by seven, 13-6. The Miners outscored Jewell 12-6 over the final half of the set to win 25-12. 
• S&T opened a 12-5 lead early in the second set but the Cardinals went on a 9-2 run, led by two kills from Quinn to tie the set at 14-all.  The Miners went back on top 22-17 only to see the Cards rally again and pull within 24-22, after a kill by Katie Paine, but an error finished the set. 
• The Miners grabbed an 8-1 lead in set three and led by as many as eight late in the set. Back-to-back kills by Lacey Albers and Lily Johnson pulled Jewell within 23-17 but two Cardinal errors ended the match. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Quinn led the Cardinals at the net with 10 kills and four blocks. Jewell had eight blocks as a team as Wingert added four and Albers three. 
• Hannah Cope dished out 19 assists while Haidan Baade finished with 12 digs. 

FOR THE MINERS

• Payton Gannaway had a match-high 12 kills for the Miners while Jordan Burton added 11. 
• Burton also finished with five of S&T's nine service aces while also totaling 11 digs.
• Meiko Pearson posted a match-high 13 digs.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday as they travel to crosstown rival Rockhurst at 7 p.m.
