LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team played their first game at Talley Stadium since March 8, 2020 on Tuesday. The Cardinals hosted Missouri Western for a non-conference matchup, falling 13-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Griffons came out firing, scoring three runs in the opening inning before adding another in the second. 
• After a scoreless third, Missouri Western scored three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the sixth. 
• Jewell got on the board in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI groundout by Cole Conner, scoring Jade Smoot. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Smoot and Drew Reed had the Cardinals only hits on the day. Smoot also drew two walks. 
• Brandon Valentine (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs. 

FOR THE GRIFFONS

• The Griffons had 15 hits with Alex Crouch, Maurice Bruce and Reid Briney having three apiece.
• Bruce and Colby Tam also posted four RBI. 
• Brock Wrolstad (1-0) was credited with the win striking out two over two innings.
