KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The William Jewell football team suffered a 34-15 loss on Saturday at the hands of Truman State University. The Cardinals outscored Truman 13-7 in the second half but fall to 0-2 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Truman struck first with a blocked punt and score followed by another touchdown on the following drive. 
• The Cardinals got on the board early in the second quarter as Ja'Carri Lewis got a tackle in the end zone to record a safety. 
• After trailing 27-2 at the break, the Cardinals came out of the intermission to force a three-and-out by the Bulldogs before traveling 58 yards on six plays for a touchdown. Anthony Pritzel scrambled late to run it in five yards for the score. 
• Truman quickly responded with a 66-yard run but in the fourth quarter, Pritzel connected with Grant Latina for a 36-yard touchdown to bring the score to the final. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• Pritzel threw for a career-high 302 yards on 22 completions and one score. 
• Jalik Jaggwe finished with 122 yards on five receptions while Latina added 80 yards and one touchdown on eight catches. 
• Mario Magana, Jr. led the defense with nine tackles.
• Kian Bettancourt recorded a sack for a 10-yard loss while Gianni D'Arienzo recovered a Bulldog fumble.
