Softball Travels to Lewis, UIS for Weekend Action

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team hits the road this weekend as they travel to Lewis and Illinois Springfield.

🟢 Spectators are permitted at Lewis University. Visiting fans are requested to complete a COVID-19 screening form prior to arrival. 
❌ Outside spectators are not permitted at Illinois Springfield.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a tough weekend, dropping four games to No. 7 Indianapolis and Southern Indiana. 
  • Allison Rawls continues to lead the offense, hitting .345 on the year with 29 hits and 13 RBI. Sabrina Olmo follows with 28 hits on a .277 clip and is 12-of-13 in stolen base attempts.
  • As a team, the Cardinals hit .223 and are fourth in the GLVC with 30 stolen bases. 
  • In the circle, Aly Manhart and Kenzie Jones have started 28-of-30 games this season, combining for 76 strikeouts over 140.2 innings. Freshman Sammie Welt has made a team-high 18 appearances and is second in the GLVC with 16 games in relief. 
     
ABOUT LEWIS 
  • Lewis enters the week at 17-12 on the season and 8-8 in conference play, having won four of their last six.
  • Four players hit above .300 for the Flyers, led by Sara Serena's .390 average. Kristin Kavalauskas hits .345 with a team-high seven doubles while Elexis Swartzentruber boasts 22 RBI on 20 hits. 
  • Katie David leads the pitching staff with a 3.08 ERA over a team-best 18 appearances and 76 innings, striking out 83. 
  • Becky Pearl is in her seventh season at the helm of the Lewis program after spending the previous 10 years at Judson Univeristy. 
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD
  • The Prairie Stars come into the weekend at 9-21 overall with a 4-10 mark in GLVC play, having lost six straight. 
  • Sophomore Danielle Dennis leads the team with a .375 batting average with a team-high five home runs and 24 RBI. 
  • Three pitchers have shared the starting duties, led by Reagan Miles who own a 3-7 mark with a 4.96 ERA. 
  • Shannon Guthrie is in her eighth season with the Stars and has led the program to two Regional final appearances.
