QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell baseball team dropped the finale of a four-game series with Quincy University on Sunday afternoon by a final of 14-11. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals jumped on top early, taking advantage of a Quincy error to score three unearned runs on RBI by Nick Modricin and Alex Epp. 
• Quincy got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning on back-to-back RBI groundouts. 
• Jewell broke out in the second inning, scoring six runs on seven hits. Anthony Hansen kick started things with a two-run home run followed by a Modrcin double and single from Cameron Fliege that added two nmore. Epp reached on a bunt single and scored on a two-RBI double by Drew Reed to make it a 9-2 Cardinal lead. 
• Quincy scored nine runs over the next five innings to take an 11-9 lead.  
• Reed plated Modrcin with an RBI single before a sac fly by Arian Jimenez-Quezada scored another Jewell run to tie the game at 11. 
• The Hawks scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to escape with the win. 

FOR THE CARDINALS

• The Cardinals totaled 16 hits and four walks. Modrcin paced the field with three hits, three runs and three RBI. Reed also added three RBI while Fliege and Hansen had three hits. 
• Mack Stephenson (1-3) took the loss, striking out four over three innings in relief.

Jewell returns home next weekend as they host Missouri S&T for a four-game series beginning Friday at 2 p.m.
