QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell volleyball team dropped a GLVC contest at Quincy University, 3-0, on Friday night. The loss moves the Cardinals to 4-7 on the season, 0-3 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams traded points for most of the opening set until Quincy went on a 7-3 run to open up a 23-16 lead. The Cardinals battled, taking advantage of five QU errors to pull back within four, but a kill by Emma Wijnbergen sealed the set for Quincy, 25-20.
- Set two was back-and-forth as neither team took more than a three point lead. Trailing by three, the Cardinals staved off set point twice behind a kill from Anna Godfredsen and a Quincy error but a errant serve gave the Hawks the 2-0 set advantage.
- Quincy jumped out to a 13-2 lead in set three and the Cardinals could not recover, hitting -.063 for the set and falling 25-12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell posted a season high 11 blocks as a team, led by five from Godfredsen and four by Lily Johnson.
- The Cardinals hit just -.009 on the match, led by Johnson's seven kills.
- Jordan Collard finished with 12 digs.
