OWENSBORO, Ky. - The William Jewell football team put up 21 third quarter points but fell in their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday with a 41-21 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan. The Cardinals drop to 0-4 on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals grabbed an interception on the first play from scrimmage but could not convert points through the first quarter as KWC took a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes. The Cardinals missed two field goal attempts and entered the locker room with the same 14-0 score at the break. 
• Less than 60 seconds into the second half, the Panthers expanded their lead to 21 with a pick six from 10 yards out and added another on a 38-yard connection just under five minutes later. 
• The Cardinals scored on back-to-back drives late in the third quarter as Bart Harris connected with Ishmial Mitchell for a 73-yard touchdown pass to put Jewell on the board. The Cardinals recovered the ensuing onside kick at the KWC 39 before Jesse Thomas caught a 28-yard reception to cut the deficit in half with 14 points in just over six minutes. 
• Kentucky Wesleyan added another score but Jewell got back within 14 as Tabren Yates ran it in to close the third quarter. 
• KWC added an additional touchdown and did allowed the Cardinals just 26 more yards to take the win.   

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Mitchell finished with a career-high 119 yards receiving while Jalik Jaggwe added 89 on three catches.
• Harris went 18-for-45 for 300 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start. 
• Adam Callahan posted a team-high seven tackles while Ja'Carri Lewis and Radell Washington each had one sack. 
• Gianni D'Arienzo and Carson Anderson each had one interception while the latter also had a fumble recovery.
