ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team suffered through some early shooting troubles and rallied in the second half but fell short against Lindenwood 72-60. The loss drops the Cardinals to 9-8 on the season, 5-4 in the GLVC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Kobe McKinley scored 36 seconds into the game, the Cardinals went cold, going scoreless over the next four-plus minutes. Lindenwood built a nine point lead with 13:29 to play in the first half but Jewell went on a 17-10 run to get within two after a pair of free throws by Trey Shannon. The Lions went back on top by five at the break, 31-26. 
• The Cardinals opened the second half on a 11-6 run, capped by a runner in the paint from Jordan Jermain to get within one with 15:49 to play. A 19-6 run by the Lions gave them their largest lead of the day at 56-44 with under 10 minutes to go.
• The Cardinals did not go quietly, countering with a 13-4 outburst, to get back within three, 60-57, but Lindenwood finished on a 12-3 run to earn the win.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• John Zimmerman finished with a career high 14 points on 2-of-5 from three along with five rebounds and three assists. 
• Mason Alexander added 12 points while Jevaughn Ferguson pulled down eight rebounds in his first start of the season.
