ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team got off to perhaps their best start of the season on Thursday night at Lindenwood but could not hold on, falling to the Lions 74-57. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell came out on fire, jumping out to a 14-6 lead behind eight early points from Lea Finn. The Lions bench came on and cut the lead down to one by the end of the period as the Cardinals held a 20-19 advantage. 
• The turnover bug began to bite the Cardinals in the second quarter, committing seven after none in the first 10 minutes, which allowed Lindenwood to go on a 20-8 run and break open a 12-point lead at the break, 39-27. 
• Kate Hillyer came out of the break firing with eight quick points but Jewell could not cut into the lead, trailing 52-40 after three. 
• Lindenwood maintained their lead through the fourth quarter, taking the largest advantage of the night late on their way to the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Libby Arnold lead three players in double-figures with 16 along with a team high five rebounds.
• Katie Knock added 14 points and four boards while Hillyer chipped in 10. 
• The Cardinals put together one of their best offensive performances of the season, shooting 45% from the floor, including seven three pointers on a 41% clip, both second best marks this year.
