LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team used a run in the fourth quarter to get within single digits but came up short against McKendree, 58-48. The Cardinals drop to 1-16 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a good start, leading 7-4 after a offensive rebound and put back by Lea Finn but the Bearcats closed the first quarter on a 9-5 run to lead 13-12. 
• McKendree opened the second quarter on a 10-2 run to expand their lead to nine. Finn and Libby Arnold combined for the final nine the Cardinal points to make it a 30-23 game at the break. 
• The Bearcats outscored Jewell 22-11 in the third period to grow their largest lead of the night at 20. 
• Jewell opened the final quarter on a 13-2 run, led by six points apiece from Arnold and Kate Hillyer, to cut the deficit down to seven with 3:24 to play but the Cardinals could get no closer. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Finn three players in double figures with 16 points, one shy of her career high, while Arnold added 14 and Hillyer 11. Arnold flirted with a double-double with eight rebounds.
• Katie Knock posted a season high 10 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. 
• The Cardinals shot 37% from the floor and grabbed seven offensive rebounds, for eight second chance points.
