LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell football team dropped a 41-14 Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup on Saturday to Missouri S&T. The Cardinals fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in league action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Missouri S&T jumped out in front early, taking advantage of two Cardinal turnovers to grab a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. 
• Jewell ended the drought in the second quarter as the Cardinals used a gadget play to get Marquis Whitmire connected with Deldionn Amos for a 22 yard touchdown reception to get on the board. 
• To close the half, the Cardinals got a 14-yard touchdown throw from Taylor Eggers to Hunter Thomas to make it a 27-14 game at teh break. 
• The Miners added a score in each of the second half quarters to bring the score to the 41-14 final. 

KEY STATS

• CJ Ward was 10-for-21 for 108 yards, primarily targeting Amos who had 83 yards on six catches. 
• Jewell was limited to five net yards rushing on the day while Missouri S&T had 178. 
• Sean Mitchell, Carson Anderson and Adam Callahan each had eight tackles to lead the defense, with the former having three for loss and a forced fumble.
