INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The William Jewell volleyball team put up a season best 15 blocks on Friday night but dropped a GLVC road game at Indianapolis, 3-1. The Cardinals fall to 8-12 on the year and 1-6 in league action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell started strong, opening up a 16-12 lead in the first set after back-to-back errors from UIndy and an Alex Dvorak kill. The Greyhounds responded, closing the frame on a 8-3 run to take the set 25-22. 
• In set two, it was the Cardinals who rallied, trailing by as many as five midway through, but a late 8-4 run, capped by two kills from Tatum Ernt, tied the match at one set apiece with a 25-23 Jewell win. 
• Set three was back-and-forth for much of the way, until UIndy used a 4-0 spurt late to go on top 22-17. A kill by Dvorak stopped the run but consecutive attack errors gave the Greyhounds the set, 25-19. 
• UIndy burst out to a big lead in the final frame, 20-16, but the Cardinals made things interesting down the stretch, rallying to pull within two after three straight kills. The Greyhounds won three of the final four points to win 25-21 and take the match, 3-1. 

KEY STATS

• Jewell collected 15 blocks, led by Dvorak's eight. Ernt added seven rejections and Anna Godfredsen chipped in a season best five. 
• LaPorta put down a match high 18 kills to go with 16 digs. 
• Haidan Baade picked up 14 balls while McKinzie Thompson had 11. 
• Samantha Thompson led the setters with 22 assists with Drew Baxter adding 17.
