BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell football team dropped a 44-21 road contest on Saturday afternoon at Southwest Baptist to fall to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Southwest Baptist jumped out in front 10-0 early in the first quarter but Jewell got on the board early in the second quarter as Jordan Clay ran it 13 yards to the end zone. An extra point from Paul Geelen made it just a three point deficit, 10-7. 
• The Bearcats scored 17 points to close the half and led 27-7 at the break. To open the third period, CJ Ward connected with Livingston Benoit for 19 yards near the goal line and Taylor Eggers came on to run it in to make it 27-14. 
• SBU added two touchdowns and a field goal in the fourth before Deldrionn Amos caught a three yard touchdown pass to bring the score to the final. 

KEY STATS

• Clay picked up 90 yards and a score to give him nearly 200 over the last two games. 
• Ward was 17-of-27 through the air for 164 yards while rushing for 28. 
• Amos collected 50 receiving yards while Winston Quinn hauled in 39 on two catches. 
• Sean Mitchell led the defense with 11 tackles while Kian Betancourt had one sack.
