LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team put together a big third quarter to get back within striking distance but Northern Michigan grabbed the 70-51 win to drop the Cardinals to 0-2 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Northern Michigan opened with a 22-point lead at the half as the Cardinals shot just 22% from the floor in the first 20 minutes. 
• In the third quarter, the Cardinal offense heated up, kick started by a three from Ayden Shannon. Jewell followed with a 21-8 run, capped by a layup by Skylar Boylan to make it a nine point game, 44-35. 
• The Wildcats outscored Jewell in the fourth quarter 24-16 to build the advantage back to double digits and the win. 

KEY STATS

• Emree Zars posted her first career double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, tied for the fourth-most in a single game in Jewell's NCAA era. 
• Kate Hillyer added 11 points while Rachel Senn had 10 and Shannon chipped in eight.
