LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team got their first win of the season on Friday night in an 86-36 win over Blackburn College. The Cardinals move to 1-3 on the season after posting their highest scoring total since February 2021. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals started strong, jumping out to an 11-0 lead midway through the first frame after two free throws from Kate Hillyer. Jewell continued their early onslaught, finishing the first period on a 21-6 run after back-to-back threes by Katie Knock and Elizabeth Ernsting. 
• Casi Waterhouse and Bree Shannon got in on the long ball action in the second quarter, hitting three consecutive triples to push the advantage to 36. 
• The Cardinals outscored the Beavers 22-11 in the third period to extend their lead to 49. Blackburn hit a three late in the fourth quarter to bring the score to the final.

• The Cardinals forced Blackburn into 21 turnovers, leading to 49 points. 
• All but two players scored, led by Hillyer and Chloe Frank with 16 points each. Knock added 10 to give the Cards three in double figures.
• Waterhouse came off the bench to score a six and grab a career best eight rebounds in just 15 minutes. 
• Abigail Jones grabbed seven boards and blocked three shots while Knock and Shannon had four assists. 
• Jewell pulled down 51 rebounds, the most since February 2019.
