LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's basketball team dropped a 105-61 decision on Monday evening to Missouri Western, who is receiving votes in the national polls. The Cardinals fall to 1-4 on the season entering conference play this weekend. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After the Griffons opened with a 6-0 lead, a jumper by Kate Hillyer got Jewell on the board. Skyler Boylan hit a three with just over a minute remaining to pull within three late in the first quarter. 
• Midway through the second period, the Cardinals got four straight points from Bree Shannon but Missouri Western followed with a 17-2 run to close the half and lead 50-30 at the break. 
• The Griffons outscored Jewell 55-31 in the second half.  

KEY STATS

• Frank led the Cardinals with a season high 13 points. 
• Emree Zars finished with eight points and a team high five rebounds while Ayden Shannon added eight points and three steals. 
• Jewell shot 36% from the field compared to 51% by Missouri Western.
