SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The William Jewell men's basketball team overcame a second half 11-point deficit to take the lead with under 15 seconds to play but a tip in layup at the buzzer pushed Southwestern Oklahoma State past the Cardinals 63-62.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both offenses started slow, as just as only 10 total points were scored over an early 10 minute span. Tied at 11 with nine minutes to go in the opening half, Southwestern Oklahoma State went on a 12-2 run to open up a 10 point lead.
• Two triples from Jordan Jermain and Mason Alexander pulled Jewell back within two but the Bulldogs closed on a 8-3 run to lead 31-24 at the break. 
• Trailing by 11 with under eight minutes to play, the Cardinals made a push, led by five straight point from Eli Wingert.
• Grant Stubbs hit a three with 53 second to play to make it a one point game. With just 12 seconds on the clock, Jewell got a defensive rebound late and Jermain hit a jumper at the other end to put the Cards on top, 62-61. SWOSU missed a last second layup but a tip in attempt by Deangelo Adkins rolled in at the buzzer to give the Bulldogs the win. 

KEY STATS

• Jermain led the Cardinals with 21 points on 4-of-6 from three. 
• Kobe McKinley pulled down a team high 10 rebounds while Alexander handed out five assists.
