INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The William Jewell women's basketball team put up a fourth quarter fight on Thursday night but came up short, 74-65, at Indianapolis. The Cardinals fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams started the game well but UIndy took an eight point lead late in the first quarter, after an 11-2 run. 
• The Cardinals opened the second frame with a 17-6 run, led by five points from Libby Arnold, to go on top by three. UIndy scored the final points of the half, making it a 31-all game at the intermission. 
• The Greyhounds started the second half, outscoring Jewell 15-3 over the first three-plus minutes to open up their largest lead of the day at 46-34. A three from Ayden Shannon stopped the spurt but UIndy held a double-digit lead after three periods. 
• Trailing by 11 with under four minutes to play, the Cardinals scored six straight points to pull within five after two free throws by Skyler Boylan, but could get no closer over the last 90 seconds. 

KEY STATS

• Kate Hillyer tied her career high with 19 points to lead the Cardinals. 
• Shannon and Emree Zars each scored 13 points while Rachel Senn added a career best 12. 
• Zars picked up her third double-double of the season with a game-high 10 rebounds.
