Cardinals Push Past Lincoln Behind Fourth Quarter Comeback

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The William Jewell women's basketball team used a fourth quarter run to down Lincoln University of Missouri on Wednesday night to snap a five-game skid. The Cardinals move to 2-8 on the season with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a three pushed Lincoln's lead to nine at the start of the second quarter, the Cardinals went on an 20-4 run, capped a bucket from Bree Shannon to jump out in front 29-22. Lincoln scored the final basket of the first half to make it a five-point game at the break.
  • Back-to-back threes from Hillyer opened the second half as Jewell grabbed a nine point advantage, 35-26. The Cardinals maintained their lead until late in the quarter as the Blue Tigers went on a 12-1 run to go back in front, 45-42, heading into the final frame.
  • A traditional three point play from Chloe Frank with under four minutes to play put Jewell back on top 54-53 before two free throws by Ayden Shannon gave the Cards a two possession cushion.
