Jewell Continues GLVC Play at Lindenwood, Maryville

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team jumps back into GLVC play this weekend with big tests at Lindenwood and Maryville.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a big sweep of Emporia State on Wednesday, including an 8-7 walk off in eight innings in game two. 
  • Abby Vandiver upper her average to a team high .378 with a team best eight RBI. Vandiver and freshman Ella Hoffman lead the team with two home runs apiece. 
  • Allison Rawls is the only other Cardinal above .300 sitting a .340 on the year with a team best 17 hits and 11 runs. 
  • Kenzie Jones leads the pitching staff with a 3-3 record and a 3.74 ERA over 48.2 innings of work. Aliyah Santiago and Sydney Parra picked up their first career wins on Wednesday with the latter also grabbing a save. 
  • Dustin Combs is in his 16th season with the Cardinals, chasing win No. 400 for his career and a return to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2018.  
     
ABOUT LINDENWOOD 
  • Lindenwood enters the weekend on a roll, sitting at 17-3 on the season, having won their last 11. 
  • The Lion pitching staff is tops in the GLVC with a 1.20 ERA, led by Amanda Weyh at 0.65, which leads the conference and is sixth in Division II. The junior has struck out 84 over 75.2 innings. 
  • Whitney Kinser leads the offense with a .396 average while Whitney Wendel sits at .348 with a team high 12 RBI. 
  • Erin Brown is in her first season with the Lions after a 13-year stint at Truman State, where she accumulated more than 340 wins. 

ABOUT MARYVILLE
  • Maryville comes into the week at 9-8 overall and 4-0 in GLVC play after sweeping Quincy and Truman. 
  • The Saints are hitting .257 as a team led by Emersen Heron at .377 with 20 hits, including 10 doubles, and 14 RBI. 
  • Heron is also the top pitcher on the staff with a 1.75 ERA and four complete games over 51.1 innings. 
  • Courtney Conley is in her fourth season with Maryville after a stop as an assistant coach at Missouri State. As a player, Conley was a member of the 2012 National Championship team at Alabama.
