KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team used late runs to down University of Mary twice on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals, who improve to 13-4 on the season, won 5-4 in walk off fashion before run ruling the Marauders 12-2 in the nightcap.
GAME ONE: Jewell 5, Mary 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mary loaded the bases in the first frame and got a three-run triple from James Martin to take an early lead. A solo home run in the top of the second made it a 4-0 Marauder lead.
- The Cardinals cut the deficit in half in the bottom half of the inning as Jonah Sanford reached base on a fielder's choice allowing Alex Epp to score. Sanford was thrown out attempting to steal but the throw allowed Cole Conner to cross the plate.
- After early runs allowed on both sides, the pitchers settled down to put up four straight scoreless innings. In the bottom of the seventh, the Cards received three free passes to load the bases for Cameron Fliege who singled to right field to tie the game. A fielder's choice allowed Anthony Hansen to slide around a tag at the plate to score the winning run.

- The Cardinals had seven hits, led by two fro Fliege, including a double, to go with two RBI.
- Jake Sawyer (3-0) earned the win, working the final two innings and striking out one.
GAME TWO : Jewell 12, Mary 2 (8 Inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMary again jumped on top in the top of the first with two runs on one hit.
- Jewell tied the game in the bottom of the second as Epp walked and and scored on an error by the Marauder shortstop. Sanford put a sacrifice blunt in play, scoring Conner.
- The Cardinals took the lead in the fourth as Conner walked and scored on a Sanford double down the right field line.
- Two innings later, Epp swiped second base allowing Fliege to score on the throw to expand the lead to 4-2.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Jewell broke things open, plating seven runs on three hits and one error. The following frame was led off with a Hansen double followed by one from Fliege to put Jewell on top by 10 and ending the game early.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jewell outhit Mary 8-2, led by two apiece from Hansen and Fliege.
- Ryan Dickerson finished with a team high three RBI while Conner scored three times.
- Jake MacDonadl (3-0) earned the win, allowing just two hits and two runs over six innings with six strikeouts.
- Drew Dant (5) picked up his fifth save of the year with three strikeouts over the final two frames.

The Cardinals travel to Missouri Western on Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
