BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team posted their highest run total since 2019 on Sunday with a 19-6 victory over Southwest Baptist. The Cardinals won the series and move to 20-11 on the season, 7-5 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals broke out to an early lead with seven runs in the first inning. After a bases loaded walk put the first run on the board, Cole Conner blasted a grand slam followed by a two RBI double from Quincy Aldrich. 
• SBU scored two in the bottom half of the first, but Jewell responded with nine more in the second. After two runs came across, Will Brant sent his first career home run over the outfield wall to make it 10-run advantage. The Cardinals put four more across by the end of the half inning after 15 batters to the plate. 
• An error in the top of the third plated another before Anthony Hansen sent a two-run home run over the wall for his 24th career long ball to become the Cardinals NCAA era leader. 
• The Bearcats scored four runs of the final four innings but got no closer. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Jewell posted 16 hits and 19 RBI as a team as Conner finished 3-for-5 with two runs and five RBI to lead the way. 
• Brant, Alex Epp, Jake Wilcox, and Cameron Fliege each scored three runs while Brant and Hansen had three RBI apiece. 
• Jackson Bodinson (2-1) got the with a complete game effort, striking out nine.

The Cardinals continue GLVC play next weekend, traveling to crosstown rival Rockhurst for a four game series Thursday-Saturday.
