Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In a game that took more than three hours to complete and featured a combined 26 runs, 30 hits, 13 walks and nine errors, the William Jewell baseball team dropped a back-and-forth battle with Rockhurst on Friday by a final of 16-10. The loss drops the Cardinals to 20-12 on the season, 7-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The scoring started early as Jewell plated two in the first inning on back-to-back RBI groundouts from Alex Epp and Cole Conner. The Hawks tied things up quickly with two solo home runs.
- In the third, the Cardinals took advantage of a couple of Rockhurst miscues to score two only to see the Hawks rally in the fourth and go back in front 5-4.
- Alex Epp reached on a fielder's choice and swiped second before tying the game by scoring on a two-error play.
- Rockhurst plated three runs in the fifth and eight in the seventh to go in front 16-9.
- Jewell added a run in the eighth on a sac fly from Conner but could get no closer.
