Softball Travels East for Matchups with Truman and Quincy

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team hits the road this weekend for two days of GLVC action at Truman and Quincy University.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Southwest Baptist on Saturday, downing the Bearcats 1-0 and 3-2. 
  • The Cardinals are led offensively by fifth year senior Allison Rawls who enters the week hitting .345 with 39 hits, including eight doubles while scoring a team high 28 runs. The third baseman moved to the leadoff spot in the order last week and Jewell has gone 4-1 since then. 
  • Hailey Wall has racked up 22 RBI in her final season to lead the team while she and freshman Ella Hoffman have combined for nine of Jewell's 15 home runs.
  • Jewell boasts the fifth best fielding percentage in the GLVC this spring at .962, committing just 46 errors on 1,219 chances. 
  • Sydney Parra earned her third win of the year last weekend to move to 3-3 with a team best 3.54 ERA. Parra and senior Kenzie Jones are tied for 13th in the conference with 20 appearances, with the latter making 18 starts during that span. 
  • Dustin Combs is in his 16th season with the Cardinals, chasing win No. 400 for his career and a return to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2018.  
     
ABOUT TRUMAN 
  • Truman enters Saturday's matchup at 7-30 on the season, 2-20 in league play, and having lost their last, taking on some of the GLVC's hottest teams. 
  • Cameryn Patterson and Emma Walbert lead the offense with a .347 and .339 average, respectively. The former boasts a team high 23 RBI while the latter has scored 30 runs. As a team, Truman is 10thin the league with a .274 batting average.
  • In the circle, Annabel Zimmer and Nicole Havel have started 24 of the 37 games for the Bulldogs, going 3-17. 
  • Amanda Bradberry is in her third season at the helm of the Truman program after a seven-year stint at Upper Iowa. She played collegiately at Iowa State. 

ABOUT QUINCY
  • Quincy comes into the weekend having won three of their last four and sitting at 12-25 overall, 6-14 in the GLVC. 
  • Offensively, the Hawks hit .258 as a team with three players hitting above .300. Allyson Maynard leads the way with a .330 clip with seven doubles and six home runs. 
  • Jayle Jennings is a two-way player for Quincy, hitting .322 with a team high 27 runs scored while also appearing in 62.2 innings in the circle with a team best 2.59 ERA. 
  • Bailee Highbarger leads the staff with 21 appearances, 13 starts and 48 strikeouts to go with a 4.77 ERA. 
  • Carla Passini is in her seventh season with the Hawks as spending four years as an assistant coach. She also played her final two collegiate seasons at QU, making 52 starts at catcher.
