Cardinal Baseball Picks Up Midweek Win Over Truman

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team put up seven early runs and played clean defense on their way to an 8-2 victory over Truman on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Cardinals move to 27-14 on the season, marking their most wins since 2017.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Truman got one run back with a solo home run to lead off the second frame but the Cards got one of their own, a three-run shot, off the batt of Cameron Fliege to push the lead to five.
  • Another solo home run from the Bulldogs made it a 6-2 game before Jake Wilcox's sac fly scored Chase Elias in the third.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Fliege hit his second big fly of the day, this time a solo shot, to bring the score to the final.
