LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team dropped a 14-4 decision in seven innings to Washburn University on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The loss moves the Cardinals to 17-10 on the season while Washburn improved to 23-11. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a strong start as Cameron Fliege launched his second home run of the year over the center field wall, scoring two. 
• The Ichabods got a run back on a solo home run but the Cardinals took advantage of an error to extend the third inning and plate two on an RBI triple by Alex Epp and base knock from Cole Conner. 
• Washburn scored 13 unanswered runs, including 10 in the fifth inning, to finish the game.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Fliege and Conner finished with two hits apiece as the former also had two RBI, scored twice and stole one bag. 
• Justin Agnor (0-1) took the loss in relief. 

UP NEXT
Jewell is back in Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend as they travel to Southwest Baptist. The series opener is scheduled for Friday evening at 6 p.m.
