BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell baseball team rallied to defeat Southwest Baptist 4-3 on Friday night. Jewell improved to 18-10 on the season and 5-4 in GLVC play with the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southwest Baptist took advantage of a bases loaded error to score two early.
- The Cardinals got one run back in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Chase Elias, scoring Drew Reed.
- The Bearcats added a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push their lead back to two.
- Jewell got the offense moving in the eighth with three runs on three hits, capped by the go ahead two-run double from Cole Conner.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Elias went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Conner had two RBI.
- Jake Sawyer (5-1) got his fifth win of the year with eight strong innings, allowing just one earned run with six strikeouts.
- Drew Dant (6) tossed the final frame to earn his GLVC leading sixth save.
