BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell men's and women's track and field teams completed the 2022 season on Saturday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Southwest Baptist University. The Cardinal women finished 10th overall while the men were 13th. Lewis University and Missouri S&T took home the team titles in the women's and men's competitions, respectively.
Jewell brought home two medals on the weekend, both by freshman
Cydney Banks. Banks won the women's discus with a throw of 42.36 meters, defeating Missouri S&T's Jessica Roades by 0.27 meters to win the first outdoor title in the discus for the Cardinal women since 2009. Banks also finished second in the shot put at 13.67 meters and was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year by the league coaches.
