Two Cardinals Selected for NCAA-II Outdoor National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Women's Track and Field committee has announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. William Jewell College will be represented by two student-athletes, Cydney Banks and Caroline Mayes. This is the first time since 2011 that the Cardinals will take multiple women athletes to the national championships.

Banks qualified in the shot put where she ranks 18th in Division II with a mark of 14.71 meters, hit at the GLVC Championships. The senior earns her third straight selection at the outdoor event, after placing seventh in 2023, to earn All-America honors, but missed 2024 due to a late injury. Meanwhile, Mayes will make her NCAA Championship debut in the 100 meter hurdles, where she is ranked 19th nationally. Her ranked time of 13.67 took place at the Pitt State Tune-Up in mid-April.

Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. The championships will be held from May 22-24 at CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado. Banks will compete on Saturday, May 24 at 1:15 p.m. with Mayes opening on Friday, May 23 with preliminaries at 6:35 p.m. while the finals of the 100 meter hurdles to take place on Saturday evening.
