Early Turnovers Costly in Loss at Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The William Jewell football outscored Ohio Dominican 21-10 in the second half on Saturday but fell 31-21 to drop to 0-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cardinals had four early turnovers in the first quarter which led to back-to-back scoring drives by Ohio Dominican, to give the Panthers a 14-0 lead. ODU extended their advantage to 21-0 at the half.
  • In the third quarter Jewell got on the board on a two-year run up the middle by Tabren Yates to cap off a 75 yard drive.
  • Trailing 31-7 going into the final 14 minutes, the Cardinals made things interesting down the stretch. Jewell comb five complete passes on a drive, ending with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Deldrionn Amos
  • After a defensive stop, thanks to a seven yard sack by Justin Endicott on third-and-15, the Cardinals struck quickly, with a 23 yard pass from CJ Ward to Keavian Long for a score and make it a 10-point game but could get no closer.
