OWENSBORO, Ky. - The William Jewell volleyball team ran their record to 4-2 with two wins on Friday afternoon at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational. The Cardinals downed Purdue Northwest before sweeping the host Panthers. 

vs. PURDUE NORTHWEST 

• Jewell struggled offensively in the opener, hitting -.081 with 14 errors to fall 25-13. 
• Trailing by two midway through the second set, the offense began to find a rhythm, going on a 7-1 run behind three kills from Tatum Ernt. PNW closed the gap to just one late, but another Ernt kill followed by two from Bella LaPorta pushed the Cards to a 25-23 win to even the match. 
• Jewell took advantage of five early errors by the Pride and never looked back, taking set three 25-21. 
• Purdue Northwest led by three early, but the Cardinals went on a 17-9 run to close the match 25-20. 

KEY STATS

• LaPorta led the Cardinals with a double-double of 17 kills and 12 digs while Ernt posted a career best 15 kills on a .591 clip. 
• Samantha Thompson finished with 25 assists and Drew Baxter added 19. 
• Haidan Baade put up 15 digs while McKinzie Thompson had a career high 13.

vs. KENTUCKY WESLEYAN

• Jewell jumped on top early in set one and maintained that lead through the duration, winning 25-21. 
• Leading by one midway through set two, the Cardinals rolled to a 25-13 win behind a 12-1 run and finishing on a McKinzie Thompson ace. 
• The Cardinals used another big run midway through the finale to open up a 19-10 lead after a kill from Alex Dvorak. KWC got back within five but another point from Dvorak combined with a LaPorta kill and Samantha Thompson ace finished it off 25-18. 

KEY STATS

• Dvoark led the Cardinals with 11 kills and four blocks as Jewell hit .286 as a team. 
• Samantha Thompson dished out 24 assists and recorded three aces while Baade picked up 10 digs.
