  • Jewell was the strong opener in set two, holding an 17-11 lead midway through. ESU got within three but a kill from Bella LaPorta and a Hornet error gave the Cardinals the set 25-20.

The Hornets rallied with a 5-0 run to go back in front, 25-24 and reverse set point in their favor. Jewell held off four set points, but eventually fell 30-28.
  • With Emporia State leading 23-21 late in set four, it was the Cardinals who reversed their fortunes this time, going on a 5-1 run behind a kill and block from Anna Godfredsen to win 26-24 and force a fifth set.
