KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The William Jewell women's basketball team ran into a hot Truman State team on Thursday night, falling by a final of 99-53. The Cardinals drop to 4-14 on the season and 2-6 in conference play. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jewell got off to a good start, holding an early 9-7 lead after a three from Rachel Senn and two triples by Emree Zars. From there, the Bulldogs went on a 20-5 run to close the first period with a 28-14 lead. 
• A layup from Bree Shannon started the second quarter but Truman expanded their lead to 26 by the intermission, 52-26. 
• Truman continued their hot shooting into the second half, hitting a three right off the bat but four points from Chloe Frank calmed things momentarily for the Cardinals. The Bulldogs hit five threes to close the third quarter and lead 78-41. 
• The Jewell bench found some scoring late as Mary Capron, Casi Waterhouse, D'Asya Collier-Williams and Katie Knock all scored in the final period.   

 
KEY STATS

• Zars finished led Jewell with 10 points while Senn had eight.  
• Capron finished with a team high four rebounds. 
• The Cardinals outscored Truman in the paint, 22-20, and forced 14 turnovers leading to 16 points, compared to just eight giveaways themselves. 
• The Bulldogs shot a blistering 68% from the floor while going 20-31 from three.
