Cardinals Down Thomas More to Win Third Straight

HAMMOND, Ind. - The William Jewell volleyball team finished off the Midwest Region Crossover with an unblemished performance after downing Thomas More University 3-1 on Saturday. The Cardinals went 3-0 during the Crossover and improve to 9-12 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell jumped out to an 21-10 lead behind four kills from Alex Dvorak and a combined seven early aces. The Saints got a kill to end the skid but back-to-back Katie Paine kills and one from Katy Garrison ended the set in dominant fashion, 25-11.
  • Leading 9-8, the Cardinals went on a 9-2 run, capped by four kills from Bella LaPorta. TMU made a late run, cutting the Jewell lead to just three but a kill and block from Jesa Wallace ended the threat, 25-19.
  • The Saints carried their late momentum into the next set, opening up a 21-14 advantage. The Cards got consecutive blocks from Wallace and Garrison to get back within four but two kills gave TMU the set, 25-19.
  • Midway through set four, Jewell separated themselves with an 11-3 run, capped by a block from Dvorak and Godfredsen to make it 22-14. Wallace finished things off, 25-20, with another kill to take the four set win.
